When someone tries to speak into your life, do you receive it or question it?

To prophesy is to say that something will happen in the future. It is difficult sometimes to believe it when people come up to you and speak about your future. Often, it is taken with a grain of salt. Some shrug it off, while others try to see how true it may be and how the messenger knows this information. God sends us messengers. He has before so He can surely do it again.

God works in mysterious ways. He sends people our way to help us to continue on the path to righteousness. Sometimes those people prophesy to us, letting us know what God has allowed them to say as it pertains to our lives. We should be careful who we let speak over us. Additionally, we should also be alert about what God is doing in our lives.

A prophesy, for some of us, is a confirmation of something we have prayed to God to help us and bless us with. For others, a prophesy may be a warning to stop, lean into God, and do what God is saying to do. Either way, a prophesy is something to be attentive to and to lean on God to better grasp and understand.

God, please allow any prophesies to come over your people to be from You and to bring You glory! In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

Scripture to Remember: Joel 2:28-29 (NIV)

28 “And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.”
