Have you ever felt the relief of paying off a debt, or even having a debt paid off for you?

There is this sense of completion—it is like a weight being lifted off of your chest!

Well, let’s think about how Jesus paid off our debt! We should feel a sense of relief, a sense of completion and relinquish any worries of that debt.

What debt did he pay off? The debt of sin. Romans 6:23 tells us that to pay off sin requires death, and that because Jesus died for us, we as God’s children, have the amazing gift of eternal life. **That is so amazing and always a reminder to be grateful.

How can we repay Jesus? Typically, when someone does something for us, we want to return the favor. However, Jesus did something for us that we can never do for him. He died on the cross, sinless, and blameless, so that we can be free. ** What we can always do is exalt God’s name and make worship our priority.

Reminder, especially when things get tough and we are in other debts (oh, say like financial debt):

JESUS PAID IT ALL! (Isaiah 1:18)

God is a great provider! He is always there to help us!

Meditate on This: 1 John 2:1-2 (ESV)

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
